Hmmm....first off, my apologies. I have been slacking on this here blogging extravaganza. So, the question is, what do you want to know? .... Or better yet, what sort of exciting happenings have I been keeping from you that I should now share?? ....Prepare yourself for rambling. I am now going to attempt to catch you up on my life, hopefully without boring you to death.
So in my last post, I was fretting about early semester procrastination. Eight days later, and I can say that I successfully passed my first organic chemistry test of the second semester. It seems unreal that just over two weeks into the semester I already feel tested out. I have to begin studying for a test in Biochemistry on Friday very, very soon...like right after I'm done with this blog would be good, beings I have a plethera of structures to memorize before then.
What else....Well, the big news on campus (not really, but still) is that KELLY JOINED CHOIR! You may be asking, can you sing? And, the answer to that question: yes and no. I can sing, but I won't promise that it sounds very good. In any case, I was convinced by multiple friends that I should join because it would be tons of fun, and I gave in. After two days of practice, I must admit that my friends were right. It is very refreshing to go to a "class" that only requires that I sing with 80 other people who make me sound amazing. :)
Apparently I have been musically blessed this semester beings I am also in Piano Class. It's just a one-credit hour class on Monday afternoons, but it has quickly earned a place at the top of my favorites list of classes. You may ask again: are you any good? Annndd...that's debateable. I don't know if I'd say I'm "good," but I am addicted. I've been practicing every night, usually for quite some time longer than I schedule, but I just can't tear myself away once I start. I'm "advanced" for my class (I've peeked ahead and can play a decent rendition of Jingle Bells!! :))
There is one more class I must give mention to: Advanced Fiction and Nonfiction. Why am I even in this class should be the question. I'm not an English major, so it's not required by any means. In fact, I simply opted to take it. I enjoy writing, so I thought it would be smart to take on a whole lot of extra work....and that it is. I'm incredibly busy, but I've dedicated Thursdays as my writing days; we'll see how long I can make that last. I mentioned this class because despite the work, I am also thoroughly enjoying the chance to write about basically whatever I want. I wrote a seven page story about my Grandma for my first workshop. My next challenge is to create a fictional character for a short story or a novel. My creativity was soaring in class; somehow I decided I would be writing about a seven-year-old desiring to be an astranaut (long story). Whether I have the time to write it now is very much debateable.
This doesn't do justice at all to all that is going on, but it is a start. Next week will be a very important and hectic week. I have two grad school interviews - one on Friday and one on Saturday. And, it is Homecoming week, so there are events planned every night. I'm making an early prediction that I will be suffering from sleep deprivation and some serious stress....
And so I must begin studying once again and stay as ahead as possible. Have a great weekend!
